Welcome to Coastal Quilters
We are a group of enthusiastic quilters from Wellington to the Kapiti Coast who have a passion for quilting. The club was formed in 1988 by Marge Hurst and Sue Bracken.
We welcome visitors: non-members are welcome to visit a meeting for no charge.
We meet at the Plimmerton Hall, 9 Sunset Parade, Plimmerton on the second Saturday of each month at 1.30pm.

Saturday, 21st November 2026 - 9:30am
Tutors Clare Smith & Marge Hurst.
Temari is Japanese for ‘hand ball’ and they were traditionally made by mothers to give to their daughters or to special women friends. Historically they were used for children’s games but these days they are more likely to be made for decoration and make great Christmas ornaments. In the morning I’ll show you how to wrap then mark the ball, then stitch the pattern. In the afternoon, Marge will show you how to make one of her special tassels to attach to the base. There may be a small charge for materials $5.00 (polystyrene ball, thread, wool) which will be collected on the day.
